All about the newly launched Ferrari F8 Tributo

Ferrari’s 488 GTB was a high-performance, mid-engined V8 supercar that rivaled the likes of the Porsche 911 Turbo S and the McLaren 720S. It was sold in coupe and Spider variants and was a perfect replacement to the 458 Italia. For 2020, Ferrari have launched their latest replacement for the 488 GTB – the F8 Tributo. It’s the fastest series production mid-engined Ferrari as of today. The car has been priced at ₹ 4.02 crore (ex-showroom) and deliveries of the Italian thoroughbred have already begun. The car was unveiled for the first time in India at the Select Cars dealership in New Delhi.

About the model

The V8-engined F8 Tributo is the successor to the 488 GTB and comes with performance enhancements and shares some of its components with the Ferrari 488 Pista. It is also lighter and more aerodynamic than the model it replaces. Expect it to be the last of the non-hybrid V8 supercars to be made by Ferrari.

Stunning looks

The F8 Tributo is an achingly gorgeous car with its flowing lines, large air inlets and sleek headlights at the front. Move on to the sides, and you’ll notice the wide rear haunches, the curvaceous doors and massive air-ducts behind that channel cool air into the engine. And as the name suggests, this model pays a fitting tribute to Ferraris of the yesteryear with those twin rear tail lights and of course, the engine cover louvres that hark back to the legendary Ferrari F40.

Sporty cockpit

The interior of the F8 Tributo is brimming with good quality, fit and finish, and the steering is loaded with controls for the lights, wipers, suspension and indicators. Then there’s the start button and Manettino. The overall design of the dashboard reminds us of the 458 Italia. It also features a 7.0-inch display for the passenger, a new steering with lots of carbon-fibre and alcantara trim. The central tachometer is flanked by two screens. The AC vents look like the exhaust ends of a fighter jet. There’s also room behind the seats with a cargo net on the bulkhead.

Talking performance

The F8 Tribute was revealed for the first time to public at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Powering the car is a 3.9-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 engine that makes 710bhp and 770Nm of torque. This model can sprint from 0-100kph in just 2.9 seconds and can reach a top speed of 340kph. The FB Tributo is said to be the most aerodynamically efficient mid-engined berlinetta ever made and weighs 40kgs lesser than the 488 GTB. The S-Duct at the front improves downforce by 15%.
